India’s arrogant abrogation of the constitutional articles 370 and 35a not only aggravates human miseries in India-occupied Kashmir (IOK), but also invites unpredictable disaster for the Kashmiris and the Indians for decades to come.
Primarily, Indian army and RAW-led Modi’s dictatorial decision diminished India’s status as the largest democracy. Modi’s move uncovered how farce Indian democracy is!
Secondly, India now brands as an accused of cruelty and criminality against humanity in IOK. The whole of IOK is under blockade, seizure and curfew since August 5, what is disconnected not only from the rest of the world but internally as well. Internet, landline phone (though Indian agents so-called Kashmir Govt. claims that land phone is restored, but local Kashmiris branded such claim as a lie), print and electronic media are virtually unavailable. People cannot freely move one place to another. None knows what is happening in his neighborhood. Markets, shops, pharmacies, not to speak of educational institutions are closed. People cannot buy their daily necessaries. Human catastrophe prevails, particularly in urban areas. None knows how the urban people survive, how many people died due to starvation or non-availability of medicine and treatment, how many houses or businesses of the Kashmiris were demolished or occupied by the Hindu thugs, how many thousands of non-Kashmiri Hindus were infiltrated from outside Kashmir, how many Kashmir women and girls were raped and kidnapped by the Hindu hooligans, how many thousands of Kashmiris, irrespective of their age were arrested, tortured or killed?
India one day will have to answer all these questions before the international community. How many decades will the world play the role of silent spectators? They will surely break their silence. Their sense of humanity will surely resurrect and India will feel the bite of and compensate for its barbarity in Kashmir.
Thirdly, India will have to pay for its summersaults, sheer lie, mendacity and prevarication. Modi proves once more that Indian leaders are liars and can’t be trusted, as they aren’t true to their words and deeds.
India internationalized Kashmir, welcomed and acknowledged UN resolution to hold a plebiscite in Kashmir and repeatedly pledged to implement and honor the resolution. After 24 years in 1972 India forgot the UN resolution and its commitments on Kashmir. India in the Simla Agreement (of 1972) compelled Pakistan to degrade the Kashmir dispute from its original status as an international issue to a bilateral matter. Since then India propagates and claims that Kashmir is a bilateral issue, between India and Pakistan.
Just on July 22 when President Trump disclosed to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan that Modi requested him to mediate the Kashmir dispute, Indian leaders, including its foreign minister Jaishankar, shrieked saying Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, the two neighbors could resolve their issues bilaterally and no third party has any role to play on this issue.
Now the same guys claim that Kashmir is an (India’s) “internal issue” and, therefore, it is free to take decisions as it sees fit. What a fantastic and mockery leadership India has! How many tongues each of them have? How these liars and killers face the international community with their ugly faces? Don’t they feel ashamed? How do they say they deleted the special status of Kashmir to develop it? All these lies will be counted in the future. UN and its permanent member-countries, even the common people around the world will think it twice to trust India before entering in any agreement.
Fourthly, all these and many other factors will cause India. International support for India will daily reduce. The more India will be atrocious and arrogant the more the international opinion will go against it and lean to the Kashmiris. The Arab world will have to come to their senses. Western democracies will be more vocal. Asian countries, particularly its neighbors, already are irritated on Indian lordship attitude. Some surrogates of these countries may tune to the tone of their Indian masters, but they are entirely isolated from their common people.
UNCHR (United Nations Commission on Human Rights) and other human rights groups already condemned and expressed their worries and reluctance over the happenings in Kashmir since August 5 and they will become more vocal and proactive when the cruelties in Kashmir will come to light that Indian forces and hooligans committed under the cover of curfew.
Amnesty International’s chief already vowed on September 17 (2019) that rights group will not be silenced on raising concerns about Kashmir despite what he called intimidation by Modi.
Earlier, Kumi Naidoo, the Secretary General of Amnesty, during his visit to Washington, alleged, “The Modi government has made a very big attempt to crush Amnesty in India”.
The Washington Post quoted Naidoo as saying, Amnesty “On the Kashmir question, on various human rights questions in India itself, are not intimidated.”
“While our colleagues in our Indian office are under stress, they are as committed, motivated and courageous as ever, if not more, as a result of the repression that we face.”
Meanwhile, seven US Congressmen and Senators in the current week sent three letters to the Trump Administration urging the President expressing their concerns over the happenings in IOK. In their latest letter singed and sent on September 16, they wrote, “The reports we are receiving (from Kashmir) are harrowing with allegations including forced disappearance, mass detentions, rape and sexual assault and targeted detention of political, economic and social leaders.”
Dozens of US lawmakers expressed identical concerns the current week, says DWAN, a Pakistani daily. All other recognized international media also carried these reports.
It means, international pressure mounts on India. Indian media already disclosed how Indian leaders started trembling and terrified over the reactions that they got from various circles.
The recent comments of Chinese policymakers on Kashmir worried the Indian policymakers most. The Anandabazar Patrika of Calcutta in an editorial of September 16 (2019) vividly exposed the concerns that India faces.
The daily alleged that disclosing the details of the closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council, China exposed its anti-India bias. It said, though the member countries of the UN Security Council informally agreed not to disclose the minutes of the closed-door meeting, “the reality was otherwise”. Zhang Jun, the Chinese Permanent Representative to the UN disclosed that the member-states expressed concerns over the security of Jammu & Kashmir. Concerns were also expressed regarding the human rights situation in Kashmir.
The daily apprehends, when Pakistan on the 3rd week of September will spread incalescence on the annulment of the special status Kashmir China, using its military and economic influence will stand behind Pakistan.
The daily predicts Russia and Britain may also follow China and extend their support to Pakistan, as the permanent representatives of those two permanent member countries went beyond the interest of India due to Chinese influence.
The daily in its concluding comment wrote, it cannot be predicted anything outright where the China-India relation will stand after new tension erupted over Kashmir.
The final disaster for India will come from the Kashmiris. For the last 70 years, India cunningly and shrewdly divided the Kashmiris into two or more groups and ruled it using the surrogates like Sheikh Abdullah, Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Memhbooba Mufti and others. The living pro-Indian Kashmiri leaders now are in jail or detained in their own home.
They will never trust India. Some of them have already regretted saying they made mistakes siding with India. India will find little surrogates there. Now the Kashmiris will emerge as a unified power. Kashmiri police whom India disarmed on the eve of the crackdown in Kashmir will no longer sincerely work for India. None will surprise if Indian soldiers deployed in Kashmir massively apply for leave or desert or disappear from the army.
Indian opposition parties already slapped Modi’s arrogant and unconstitutional dictatorial move. India itself is politically divided into two. Some of them even opined that the Modi’s step is the beginning of the further partition of India. India basically lost all of its coins in Kashmir and it will compensate for such move for decades to come. *
